Edelman's Washington DC office is seeking an Account Supervisor to join our growing team!

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The account supervisor must have at least four years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.


QUALIFICATIONS: The account supervisor should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, a proven ability to manage large projects (including budgets) and small teams simultaneously, function as a daily client contact, as well as develop and execute plans to meet client goals. S/he should have demonstrated ability to delegate and accurately judge and edit the work of others. General Summary:
The Pharmacist accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient profiles; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage and route of administration; ensures that no adverse drug duplication or drug-drug interaction exists; ensures that patient allergies are reviewed with respect to any medications prescribed. Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Pharmacist competency checklist.
2. Interprets, clarifies and transcribes all medication orders accurately and timely. Monitors medication orders and reviews patient profile to ensure appropriate drug selection and dosage (no drug duplication, interactions or allergies). Prepares and labels all drugs accurately and timely.
3. Provides accurate, adequate and timely drug information to the professional staff and to patients and their families.
4. Supports the formulary development process by consulting with medical staff and promoting rational drug therapy selection
5. Follows established procedures for drug procurement, storage and distribution, including maintenance of controlled substance records as required by appropriate legislative/regulatory authorities

Job Summary

Provides for delivery of basic pharmacy services, patient-oriented clinical pharmacy services, drug information and monitoring.  Reviews all drug orders and checks all work completed by ancillary personnel in the department.  Serves as drug expert and consultant to physicians, nursing staff and other hospital personnel.  Provides quality assurance review of drug utilization throughout the hospital for various medical staff committees and the department.  Accepts supervisory responsibilities during time when managerial support is not physically on campus. This includes decisions related to policies and procedures that may fall outside of normal operational procedures and resolving technical difficulties with pharmacy specific equipment such as Pyxis and POMS. Shift typically occurs between the hours of 1900 and 0800, when the pharmacist to patient ratio exceeds that of other day/evening shifts.

Essential Accountabilities


Provides leadership and supervision for the night technicians and support staff to ensure workflow is appropriate to meet the needs of patients. 

Verifies accuracy of medication compounded and dispensed from Pharmacy Services. 

Provides drug information to medical, nursing, and/or ancillary staff as needed.

Prepares intravenous additive solutions and extemporaneously compounded medications accurately.

Interprets physician orders and intervenes when appropriate for clarification or correction.

Reviews the patient profile for allergies, interactions, and appropriateness before dispensing.

Checks dosage for appropriateness for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Carefully checks the work of Technicians before initialing labels. Directs Technicians to perform tasks appropriate to current priorities.

Participates in medication use evaluations, records Pharmacist interventions, and adverse drug events.

10. Communicates with the night hospital supervisor in the event of a pharmacy situation during the night shift.

What is the job description for a CVS Pharmacy Technician?



This position will be in a rapid paced environment with new duties and challenges daily. You will report directly to the Pharmacist and Management of the store. You will be required to work a variety of schedules with multiple duties to include taking care of the customers, answering phones, running the register, filling prescriptions, cleaning of the store and pharmacy, unloading deliveries, data entry and placement of stock on shelves in Pharmacy.

Follow company policies and procedures including: register performance, security issues, confidentiality

Answer telephone to: obtain proper information for refills: answer questions/concerns. Refer all doctor�s calls and customer�s medical questions to Pharmacist

Retrieve and file pharmacy prescriptions in the appropriate files. Access, input and retrieve information from the computer

Retrieve, count and measure drugs (except CIIS), cap and uncap vials and bottles

Job Summary:The clinical staff pharmacist performs daily pharmacist functions using standard techniques and procedures to process written prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, and other qualified prescribers.  Provides information, keeps pertinent records, oversees medication preparation and generally protects the well being of patients by checking for adverse reactions, allergies, overdoses, and inappropriate use and dose of prescribed medications.  Uses clinical skills to monitor medications and dose selected by order of the physician or approved medical staff protocols. The individual fosters our CHI core values by developing and promoting the strategic plan developed by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy, North Dakota State University, the CHI Fargo Division and the CHI National Pharmacy Council.    Essential Duties:Reviews written prescriptions in order to determine appropriate ingredients needed and to assure that overdoses have not been prescribed or that toxic compounds will not result from combining ingredients.Demonstrates the competency to provide care appropriate to all age populations of the patients served.  Age populations may include: Neonatal, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Adult and/or Geriatrics.Maintains, when possible, and monitors patient drug profiles using computerized programs in order to assure patient safety.Uses pharmacokinetic skills to clinically monitor patients and doses of selected drugs under order of the physician or by approved medical staff protocols in order to assure safe and consistent use of toxic drugs.Gives direction to technicians, students or residents in day to day work related activities, using professional judgments as to priorities of work flow in order to increase productivity and foster a team concept.Attends mandatory workshops and meetings sponsored by the Corporation/COE and also continued education in pharmacy practice in order to meet regulatory standards and COE/hospitals' goals.Supports and assists in meeting COE goals for order entry, medication preparation and clinical programsGives a thorough, concise report at change of shift and communicates incomplete assignments, and potential patient concerns to monitor in order to ensure continuity of medication therapy.Assures that all order types are processed in a timely and accurate manner.Investigates and reports adverse drug events and medication errors identified.Provides appropriate information regarding drug therapy when consultedReviews and interprets all physician orders received, using the patient profile.  Screens all medication orders for optimal usage and intervenes when appropriate within the standards of the clinical programs: Allergies-appropriately documented in computerDrug interactionsChecks renal and liver function for dosing modificationsDuplicate orders discontinued.Monitors for incompatibilities, concentration and rate.Participates in the maintenance of continuous quality improvement programs.Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the director of COE or the Fargo Division management in accordance with established client hospital policies and requirements of accrediting bodies.

Clinical Coordinator:
 The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible to build and establish the clinical programs for the pharmacy department.  The vision is to decentralize.
Duties include: Precepting/Educating the pharmacists so that they are all doing clinical in the same method; aminoglycosides, pharmacokinetics, dosing...and others. This person should also be qualified to build the Nutritional Support Team and develop the Anti-Coagulation program. Being compliant with JCAHO guidelines is another area of responsibility. Attending clinical meetings and all protocol meetings would be necessary too.
 
The beauty of this position is that the pharmacy department has administration approval to move forward. There is growth to do... with approval to go ahead and get it running. Decentralization is the vision.


General Responsibilities:

Leads, analyzes, and appraises clinical pharmacy services.
Initiates, analyzes, and reviews monthly and annual reports to include adverse drug reaction reporting to determine compliance.
Coordinates implementation of clinical initiatives.
Oversees safe and appropriate pharmaceutical care for the patients of the facility by developing and utilizing evidence-based and best-practice protocols.
Shares the responsibility for formulary review, drug use evaluations, therapeutic drug protocols, drug information, and development and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services.
Shares responsibility for network and departmental publications, educational programs and pharmacy initiatives.

Serves as a liaison to Nursing and the Medical Staff and works directly with these groups to meet the needs of the department and the hospital. Serves as a resource for clinical services support at the other network sites
 
Salary offered is mid range $120,000 per year  with an outstanding benefits package.
